Give every student in your club a personal AI coach

The short version. Your club pays $499/month for 25 student seats — about $20 per student instead of the $79/month retail price. Every student gets the complete BetterChess: coached games where an AI coach catches blunders as they happen and explains the better move, daily puzzles tuned to their personal weaknesses, and progress tracking. You get a free coach account, we set up your whole roster with club invite codes within a day, and each month we send the club a summary of who's training and how they're progressing. Extra seats beyond 25 are $15/month.

Who this is for

Scholastic chess clubs and academies, adult clubs, school enrichment programs, and private coaches running group programs. If you teach a group of players and you've ever wished they'd practice properly between sessions — instead of unstructured blitz, or nothing — this is built for that.

The club parents choose

Parents don't compare clubs on room rental and clocks — they compare them on whether their child is actually improving. "Every student in our program has a personal AI coach, included in membership" is a sentence no other club in your city can say. It's the difference between running a chess club and running a chess program.

It also carries its own weight: most clubs fold it into membership — families happily pay a premium for a program that includes a $79/month coach for their child, and at 25 students the program more than pays for itself. But the real return is retention and reputation: students who improve stay, and parents who see progress talk.

What students actually get

Each seat is the same BetterChess individual players pay $79/month for — not a stripped-down classroom edition:

  • Coached games. Students play against an engine opponent set to their strength while an AI coach — grounded in a real chess engine — watches every move, steps in before a blunder is committed, labels the mistake, and explains the better idea in plain English, in text or voice.
  • Daily puzzles tuned to their weaknesses. The coach builds a model of each student's recurring mistakes — hanging pieces, missed forks, endgame collapses — and schedules targeted puzzles to fix exactly those.
  • Progress they can see. An estimated performance rating from their games, plus XP and levels from clean puzzle solves, so practice has visible momentum.
  • Available at home, every day. The point is what happens between club sessions: students get coached practice whenever they sit down to play.

And so the club isn't flying blind, we send you a monthly progress summary — who's been training, puzzle volume and accuracy, how ratings are moving — prepared by us and delivered to your inbox.

It's real practice, not just reading: students replay any classic move by move, then take over the position and play it out against the engine — "you're Fischer on move 17, prove you'd have won it." Assign one classic a week as club homework: everyone studies the same game at home, plays out the key position, and your next session starts with something to argue about.

Frequently asked

What counts as a seat?

A seat is an enrolled student account. The club package includes 25. You can swap students anytime by email — when one student leaves the club and another joins, we move the seat over. You pay for seats, not for specific names.

What if we have more than 25 students?

Additional seats are $15/month each. A 40-student program, for example, is $499 + 15 × $15 = $724/month — still about $18 per student for a product that retails at $79.

Can we cancel?

Yes, anytime, effective at the end of the billing period. No long-term contract, no cancellation fee. And before you commit, the free 7-day coach pass lets you evaluate everything yourself.

Does it work for juniors?

Very well — coached practice between sessions is where juniors gain the most. Student accounts are created through your club's invite codes, with parental consent handled by the club as part of enrollment, the same way you'd handle any other club tool.

Do coaches get an account?

Yes. Every club package includes a free coach account with full access, so you know exactly what your students are working with and can try positions yourself before recommending them.

Does this replace our coach?

No, and it isn't trying to. BetterChess is structured practice between sessions: it catches blunders and drills weaknesses during the week, so your coach can spend session time on the things only a human can teach. The clubs it works best for treat it as homework that corrects itself.
